ARTIST STATEMENT

Davina Hsu is a New York-based multidisciplinary artist from Taipei. Her practice examines holism, energy, mysticism, and materiality. Through the lens of her transpersonal inquiry, she utilized her spiritual input from meditation, transcendental experiences, and guidance of insights to formulate her multidimensional works. her work combines fiber-based soft sculptures and socially engaged projects to inform personal and social wellness. she creates drawings, paintings, animated videos, color oracle cards, and talismanic sculptures to evoke the metaphysical connection from the human psyche, color, emotion, and frequency.

BIO

Davina has exhibited her work internationally and nationally including solo and group exhibitions in the US and Taiwan. Her work was included in BRAZDA & SNOW, New York, NY, Anderson Art Fair & Autumn Auction, Taiwan, Taipei, SVA Flatiron Gallery, New York, NY, Michael Mut Gallery, New York, NY, Sheila Johnson Design Center, New York, NY, Illuminated Metropolis Gallery, New York, NY, Soka Art Center, Taipei/ Tainan. Davina’s work and exhibitions have been reviewed in Marie Claire, Taiwan, Harper’s Bazaar, Taiwan, CANS Asian Contemporary Art Magazine, ART INVESTMENT Magazine, Taiwan, Art Collection + Design, Taiwan, ARTITUDE Magazine, Taiwan, and ARTCO, Taiwan. Hsu holds a BFA in fine Arts from Parsons School of Design, New York, NY, She is currently a School of Visual Arts MFA 2023 candidate, and has received an Edward Zutrau Memorial Award from School of Visual Arts, New York, NY. She lives and works in Brooklyn.
